“Workplace Violence”

By lex, on December 8th, 2011

You of course remember the case of army Major Nidal Hassan, who went on a rampage down in Fort Hood just a little over two years ago, slaughtering 13 unarmed soldiers and wounding 29 others while shouting, “Allah akbar!”

Turns out this was merely a case of “workplace violence” according to the Department of Defense. To be filed in the same bin as “disgruntled postal worker.”

Some in Congress aren’t having any:

Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home.

During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.

Sgt Hasan Akbar murdered two of his officers on the even of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Workplace violence.

Private Nasr Abdo allegedly planned a follow-up attack on soldiers at a restaurant outside Fort Hood. Not workplace violence.

Keep up.
