The president may have decided to draw down the US troop presence in Afghanistan, but the Taliban just got a bloody reminder ** that it takes time to move 33,000 soldiers:
Insurgents have suffered heavy casualties in a hard-fought battle with U.S. and Afghan forces in the rugged mountain terrain and Taliban stronghold of eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, military officials said Tuesday.
Up to 100 insurgents were killed during the multi-day operation in the northern part of the Watahpur district of Kunar, where gunmen from Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan are battling hundreds of American troops and their Afghan military counterparts.
Operations Sgt. Maj. Christopher Prosser for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, said insurgents appeared to have “lost the will to fight,” as American and Afghan forces have taken “significantly less” fire in the previous 24 hours.
Dead men pull no triggers.
