Did you know that the UK had a National Association of Muslim Police?
It’s true, and they’ve got a decided point of view on security threats to Britain:
The National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP) claimed that ministers were wrong to blame Islam for being the “driver” behind recent terrorist attacks.
Far-Right extremists were a more dangerous threat to national security, it said.
The first step to fixing a problem is recognizing it, and now, presumably, far-right extremists in the UK can receive the proper attention they deserve.
Neither the National Association of Christian Police nor the National Association of Agnostic Police could be reached for comment.
Nile Gardiner has the local “colour” * on this pronouncement, as well as some inconvenient facts:
According to Home Office statistics * published in May 2009, a staggering 91 percent of terrorist prisoners detained in England and Wales classified themselves as Muslim. And as the Director General of MI5 pointed out *, there are at least 2,000 suspected al-Qaeda operatives based in Britain.
It’s good that he has room to rubbish this, because I am pretty much speechless.
