Toad ja so…

A while back I posted a  commentary, along with photos, on the F-35, and an issue the plane may have.

That was here:

Visibility. A fighter pilot wants to see all around him.

Now we have an F-35 test pilot telling us that he can’t see behind him, and an F-16 dragging around 2 drop tanks can easily take the F-35 in a one-on-one fight.

Read all about it here:

I toad ja so.

There is an interesting commentary at fightersweep

And by the way, take a look at the awesome movie

which I WISH I could download and keep. You guys have all the fun (punctuated, of course, by moments of sheer terror).

    Best Regards

The bad thing is whether this plane is a turd or not it takes on a life of its own – with so many now depending on it

Am I the only one a bit cynical about the bidding and procurement process?

  4. Aviation Week’s Bill Sweetman has addressed this same report and more than 100 comments have been posted. The F-35 is not an agile fighter from the outset. A 27 year old F-16 loaded with 2 drop tanks ate the Lightning for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in 17 engagements.
The carriers will depend on the Lightning for offense and defense. It may be a great bomb truck but a Sierra Hotel fighter isn’t readily apparent at this point.
    But it should be.
