There are people in this world that get to do fun things for a living. Like flying fast jets.
I never put fast cars in the same category but along comes this video.
This guy, Chris Harris, has gone beyond fun. Don’t know what to call it. Chris gets to go test drive a beast, 700 hp and more, and his video report is just too good. Go to full screen, turn up the volume, and wait for the good stuff at about 7:45 when he turns off all the automatic traction control.
He punches it in 4th gear at 86 in a full drift right hand turn and…comes out of the turn at 106.
Dang. The guy left me grinning.

I think **I** need to go lie down for a while after that, too.
Thanks, Busbob.
Wow.
Chris must be a pro rally driver – or something. I remember watching an episode of Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson is testing – I think its predecessor – and he turned off all the electronic aids.
The car nearly scared him to death.
Still, I have been amazed at what auto technology has done – particularly in the last 20 years.
A few years ago I was at the Monterey Historic Races – on a year that they were honoring Ferrari – and Ferrari flew one of their “older” – 2-3 years old? F1 cars to Laguna Seca together with their test driver.
The car was revving up to 18,000 RPM – it sounded like a large sewing machine – and within 3 laps he beat the track record, no doubt set by one of the mighty Can Am cars of the 1970s.
If I had to guess who had that record I would bet Mark Donohue in the 1,600 hp Porsche 917-30. It was this car that essentially killed the Can Am series, it was so above the others.
And when someone asked Mark “how much horsepower was enough” – he replied, it will never have enough power until I can spin the wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear
And within 3 laps, driving a new track, the Ferrari test driver breaks the record.
Bet they went through easily $25,000 worth of tires!
