  1. Rube. Goldberg. Were the designers really serious?

  2. Bill Brandt

I read that its nickname was the “flying flapjack”

  3. Steve

So awesome. But there ought to be a law against the destruction of prototypes.

Busbob – look at the last of the radial engines – say a P & W R4360 – all those pasts going every which way and the possibility for something failing.

Only thing that would have completed making this Rube Goldberg craft would have been counter rotating props

    • They are counter rotating! But not props, must be a British design, the flapjack has counter rotating airscrews. The Queen Mary has props, you know.

Busbob given your background as a Naval Aviator I can understand the nomenclature. Still, in my admittedly short time as a pilot I can remember being taught (just after both magnetos switched on) to yell (like you have a pair) – CLEAR PROP! 😉
Clear Airscrews just doesn’t seem to have that ….something 😉
