Besides being extremely timely considering the current ongoing debate, this is another of Lex’s posts I have kept in hard copy form for myself. The argument he uses in support of the Second Amendment is a good one, and I’ve used it in discussions with friends of mine in the past.

A good read for those inclined to discuss the matter, and I believe I’ll repost it thither and yon.
3 thoughts came to me reading this – first – Lex had excellent taste in firearms and (2) his summary of the 2nd Amendment was succinct and spot-on. (3) his remark –
Just remember that when it comes to protecting your individual right to life – the most profound right, upon which all others depend – the constabulary can only obliquely contribute. They are not designed to prevent your murder, only to punish it. When the bad man comes, and seconds count, they will be only minutes away.

5 years later and the conversations are the same only this time it’s not the conversation the nation (and world) should be having.
That said – gosh but I miss some of those folks. Max Damage, VMaximus, JustThisGuy – where are they???
