A picture that stayed with me – actually a series – was of Lt Jim Cathey – the picture of his wife sleeping by his casket with the Marine Guard – the passengers looking out the plane windows as they are unloading his casket – as powerful a picture – series – as Rosenthal’s Iwo Jima picture (and there is quite a story behind that)
Ditto on the movie. Kevin Bacon is not a favorite actor of mine, but this movie does justice to the story and to the event and to the sacrifice made by our fighting men and women and their families. I tear up just reading the title, because it immediately brings back the emotions I felt on reading and watching the story of taking Chance home. The respect with which our honored dead are treated, by military and civilians alike, is extraordinarily touching.
If you’ve not seen ‘Taking Chance’, I highly recommend it. Very powerful movie.
I’ll have to see that Todd.
