SUNSET OF A SNIPER-------Stormbringer

Reblogged from Among The Joshua Trees:

ibSUNSET OF A SNIPER/b/i.

The media keeps saying "former Navy SEAL" - heads up Lamestream: there's no such thing as a "former" SEAL or Green Beret - the correct term is 'ex-' meaning 'out of'.

Chris Kyle was a better man than most; lived more in his short time on this Earth than most men would in ten lifetimes. He was a bona fide American Hero. Honor him.

STORMBRINGER SENDS

I decided to use Sean Linanne's viewpoint. He is excellent at this and frankly I am not.

Don’t know what to say about that. Imagine the things he lives through – surviving by his wits – to die so stupidly at the hands of someone deranged. No way to defend against that.

I know the story is still comming out…but this ex/former…whatever… Green Beret finds it passing strange that someone somewhere thought it was a grand flippen idea to allow this clearly troubled Vet access to a weapon. Best, Frank C.

Perhaps something educational can come out of this if any of our combat veterans who comment here, or those of you who know and deal with vets who suffer from PTSD, can talk about what the more normal outward manifestations of PTSD are. We all have heard the post-Vietnam mantra about the damaged vets and I think that we all, mostly, now know that what happened in Texas is not the normal manifestation of PTSD, right? I mean, I’ve read a lot about the Vietnam veterans’ experiences post-combat, and upon return to home, and murder sprees are not part of the problem to the best of my knowledge. Thanks guys and gals.

I keep thinking about this – to think of the skills Chis had to do what he did – and survive – and to be murdered by someone he was apparently trying to help. They told me years ago in the Army that being a sniper was one of the most dangerous jobs because once you shoot – they are all looking for you.

And he had 160 kills to his credit.

Bill O’Reilly was replaying an interview he had with him last night and when asked if he had any remorse he said without hesitating ‘No” – they were all trying to kill our guys.

The only remorse he had was the times he was too late – or unable to make the shot – and seeing his guys get killed.

To tell you the truth I have in recent years always stayed away from public ranges around the city – you really don’t know who is next to you.

I go to one 45 minutes out in the country and everyone there seems to have his stuff together.

But then, this doesn’t quite fall into that category.

I guess more will come out in the coming days.

    But what a waste.

A good man by any definition cut down – trying to help another.
