When I lived in Sandy Eggo, I took a tour of North Island NAS and was told that for the Phantom (then still in use on the carriers along with the F14) – for every flight hour it required 20 hours of maintenance.
I am sure that for the Lear the ratio was a lot narrower. In fact wouldn’t surprise me to discover it would be something in the reverse – like 10:1.
Not to mention the fuel consumption.
All of you who were in the military – did it constantly surprise you how they spent money?
