    That was a nice post. I too tried to go back 20 years later, to Landstuhl, site of my first barracks. The old stucco medical center had been replaced by a modern 6 or 7 story hospital, but the old Luftwaffe barracks were still there – empty –

    The charming little town that the war forgot now had Pizza Huts and used car lots.

    But for me it was all different.
