Hmmm. I am wondering what is the difference between sailors at liberty after a month or more at sea?
I’m betting between officers and enlisted the shore patrol has to be called a bit less often for the former – but that is just a guess.
On the uniforms worn by the lovely young things – for some reason it reminded me of a dinner I had (along with 1,000 others) in San Diego in the early 80s – with then Adm Grace Hopper.
She was a character and for those who have not heard of her, considered the originator of COBOL – the first modern computer-transferable language.
But here is this frail little old lady in an Admirals Uniform, up on the dais – telling some stories. Among those was the time she checked into a hotel and the desk people on duty thought she was a bellhop.
No mistaking these 2 young things for that, I believe.
