Where I currently live I can sit at my desk and and work on my computer and ‘see’ Lex’s resting place at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery which overlooks San Diego harbor and North Island Naval Air Station. And I think about Lex and I read the postings (here) of his writings, among which was the recent one in which he stated that he had “the best job ever” (post-retirement). I try to keep that thought as a guard against the melancholy. It’s hard. Continuing best wishes to the family.
OT, but… I took the liberty of DELETING the “My Opinion Is Worth Money” post. That was spam, pure and simple and it looks like SgtB’s login has been hacked.
Sigh.

To have left – what – over 25 years of life in the Navy he had to have felt a bit of melancholy – as he alluded at the end

Good call Buck.
I was wondering what the secret was msgtbuck – nobody gives me 2 cents for my opinions
Words fail me. He left us too young. I often wonder how his family is doing.
Sarge…I concur…
I think they are coping as well as can be expected. I have heard some encouraging snippets on the Lex Facebook channel.
