I don’t know a lot of Monterey establishments but had I been around for Lex’s question I would have suggested taking a 5 mile drive over to Carmel and dining at the Hog’s Breath Inn, Clint Eastwood’s restaurant. They serve plenty of Guiness, it has a lot of ambiance – even a fireplace if I recall, and on occasion even Dirty Harry shows up.
It was the difficult in getting a permit to have this restaurant that led our hero to run for mayor of Carmel.

And in re-reading his post i would certainly have bought him a drink! But I would suspect I would have to had gotten in line….
