What fun. The outtakes prove it’s not quite as easy as the finished clip would have us believe. Some serious skill here – not just in the driving, but in the videography too.
Bill – I wondered the same thing. I would imagine the car would go thru one full set each time, perhaps more than one during filming.
Daisy – I was saying the very same thing about the filming; even the remote aerial stuff was fascinating. I have to believe that for that 8 minute clip there was probably several hours of filming.
The drifiting of the bikes was quite spectacular but I was riveted by that 550hp Shelby drifting around every turn as if it was driving straight – even so close the edge I’d gasp. Amazing gifts there and yes, I’d LOVE to be inside the Shelby for the ride alone.
Kris – some years ago – our car club was guests at the Calif Highway Patrol Academy – where they train all the officers. (long story on how we got THAT royal welcome but I don’t want to go one one of my – ugh, tangents ) – anyway they divided our group into halves – half was allowed to go to their rifle range and see demos of everything from their sub machine guns to firing their service pistols – the other half would get a ride in one of their Camaros on their training track.
Guess which option I chose
Anywho, these drivers would demonstrate what control really was – all a matter of weight shifting and control – when to correct your line, when to apply the brakes – these guys would go 130 down the straights – then at about 80 or so do a couple of 360s down the straight – smoke from the tires everywhere.
(you know you are in for something when you strap that helmet on and see a full safety cage with the rollbar about 4″ wide )
Anyway – to get to the point – the driver was saying that they went through a set of tires about every 121 laps –
Kris – I wonder how often they buy tires

I can post the video if you are interested
Um Bill…you have to ask about the video???
sheesh – it was 11 laps – not 121
Minor point, M’Dear… but that was primarily BIKE Pr0n, except for the Furd.
You saw Bike Pr0n; I saw Car Pr0n. Mustang pr0n to be exact.
