I know next to nothing about carrier landing technique – but with no arresting hook (can you imagine that thing grabbing a cable? – calling for reverse thrust 4′ off the deck – you are committed to a landing regardless aren’t you? No bolters – no room for error –
landing a C130 on a carrier is as wild as this U2 – although sink rates were probably a bit different
Very interesting. I got a chuckle the first few seconds in about the LC-130 bein’ “fully pressurized and heated” before I realized that it was an LC-130, thus different from the C-130s I flew in back in the day, where there MAY have been a wink and a nod at “heat” in the back. Mebbe.
