Reblogged from Among The Joshua Trees:
My friend and fellow blogger, Cindy had this to say on Facebook a while ago.
Read it. Smart gal, our Cindy.
I'm about to say something I'm sure folks on both sides of the political arena would like to say. I'm tired of it.
What I'm tired of even more is reading my friends referring to me in general terms as a hateful bigot, an idiot, a monster, someone who enjoys scrotums dipped in their mouth or many other vile names.
She is spot on but unfortunately preaching to the choir. The people that she refers will continue being who they are. Always wondered how you convince someone of your beliefs by berating them.
Can’t really say I disagree with her too much.
I can’t get to her blog from work (blocked) but what I read about is all I need to know to say that I agree with her. I am beyond sick of it; in fact I am right now pondering ending a 20+ year friendship with someone who insists I am a homophobe just because I agree with Dave Cathy’s right to have his own personal beliefs. This friend has no idea what my stance actually is on gay marriage since I’ve never shared it in public…yet she assumes that I’m some rampant bigot, despite the fact that she’s known me for over 20 years (used to be next door neighbors in fact).
Chaps my ass.
