Lex’s post may be 6 years old but the contents was news to me. I think Cuba Gooding did a wonderful portrayal of Carl – and what he had to endure – in the movie Men of Honor
We often ask where do we get such men. Then one comes along that adds so many layers to that question. Brashear broke boundaries that were, in their time, likely considered un-breakable. That he did it and clearly retained his sense of humanity – he wasn’t worn down to a shell of a man by the effort – says more than enough about him.

It is a wise thing, you have done. You have focused us on a courageous man. This is truly a man to emulate. Thank you.
