One of my regular blog stops is Big Hollywood, one of Andrew Breitbart’s creations – and with many people who work in Hollywood. The common consensus is that they (the industry) is producing so much material that is at war with the beliefs of Middle America.
All of the anti-Iraq war movies – commercial flops – and a production that was made on a shoestring – Act of Valor – a huge success – tells you where Hollywood is vs America.
Another of my favorite Blog Stops (besides here!) is Robert Avrech’s Seraphic Secret (www.seraphicpress.com) – Avrech, a successful Hollywood screenwriter who loves the history of Hollywood, has spent many posts telling about Hollywood in WW2 – imagine the Hollywood Canteen – where anyone in uniform – from Private to General. Seaman to Admiral was admitted and welcomed – and could dance with Marlene Dietrich or a dozen other big stars.
Celeste is right -
I loved her in High Society and one of my all time favorite movies, All About Eve. Celeste Holm always played strong women who never forgot that they were – women.
Like Bette Davis, they just don’t make them this way anymore. Pity.
