Ah yes. The video that got the CO and XO flown back to D.C. for a YFG speech from NR. One does not dance in anti-C’s.

    • I think I got the “YF” part… but “G?”

Wasn’t opening the door to the lab, and showing a training space one of NR’s issues?

    • Jeff Gauch

Buck: The G stands for “guys.”

NaCly: I’m sure NR didn’t like those parts, but the RT space can be used by other departments on the (infrequent) occasion that reactor department isn’t doing training. And I can’t see them getting too worked up about either the RL office or the 2MMR. Faffing about with radiation postings or oompa-loompa suits, on the other hand, is universally frowned upon.

Thanks, Jeff. When I was stationed at NAVSEA I thought the SEA 08 JO’s had very deep knowledge, with narrow horizons, and a distinct lack of humor.

And people wonder why it’s so hard to keep talented nukes. A few years back I was visiting the Navy Yard in D.C. When I looked over and saw the door labeled NAVSEA 08 it was all I could do to keep from sprinting down the street.

One of my favorites, right up there with both Sun King VAW-166 vids. ”Pump It” and ”Hey Ya”.

  3. I like it.

    I can’t believe I said that. :-)

  4. I went to sea once when there were women embarked. The Shakdown on George Washington in September and October of 1992…….The last time I ever went to sea, BTW.
Two enlisted in the Ops Department and the Ship’s Discipline Officer.
She was an LT. We had a bit of a chat one day about women at sea. I cannot say that I was for it and I still have strong reservations about the subject but that is for another time and place.
My good friend and shipmate, Rebecca (Burt) Hagemann retired last year as a LCDR. She was in my Air Frames Shop in VA-128 at NAS Whidbey Island WA in 89 and 90 as an AMS2. She was the first female squadron flight deck coordinator on Abraham Lincoln after she had made Chief Petty Officer.

Maybe a couple of Midol might help…but color me deeply unimpressed and sightly appalled at this latest installment of inane dumb assed romper room silly-ness in uniform…yes Mongo… sadly it is all different now. Best, Frank C
