Reblogged from Mongo Talk Blog!:
...that for the last several nights I have watched the last three "Harry Potter" films, along with, on two occasions, the movie "Act of Valor". Movies of conflict and war, one presented as fiction and the other based on real events. Terrifyingly real events.
I'm a die hard fan of Harry and his friends, having now seen all the movies and read all but the last book.
Interesting comparison b/w Potter and Act of Valor. I never would have made that myself but – I see it, all of it. I too am an avid Potter fan – read all the books, saw all the movies (Neville is a hero!). More than once or twice. Am anxious for Act of Valor to come out on Blu-Ray; we saw it in the theater.
And you are so right – both represent what we know to be the truth: that good men (and women) put themselves on the line for the sake of others who may or may not support them – and give their lives to protect them.
And the evil in the world – Potter’s or ours – will never truly be gone. We can hope and pray that someday it will be eradicated but in the end, we know that we co-exist with evil people every single day.
Brad, let me dig around, I’m fairly certain I’ve still got a copy of Deathly Hallows laying around.
I’ve got a hard copy (and this post is by Mongo, not me).
