I have a note for President Obama: When even a noted liberal and sycophant like Arianna Huffington calls your actions despicable, you know you’ve lost the plot.
“I don’t think there should be an ad about that,” Huffington said Monday on “CBS This Morning.” “I think it’s one thing to celebrate the fact that they did such a great job (with television specials). All that is perfectly legitimate. But to turn it into a campaign ad is one of the most despicable things you can do.”
When current and former Navy SEALs call into question your motives, you know you’ve lost the plot.
Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.
Ryan Zinke, a former Commander in the US Navy who spent 23 years as a SEAL and led a SEAL Team 6 assault unit, said: ‘The decision was a no brainer. I applaud him for making it but I would not overly pat myself on the back for making the right call.
‘I think every president would have done the same. He is justified in saying it was his decision but the preparation, the sacrifice – it was a broader team effort.’
Mr. President, our nation was pleased with Bin Laden was confirmed dead – the face of world terror taken out in a daring raid; a raid that took you 18 hours to agree to authorize.
Clearly not a decision you made quickly. Clearly you needed time to process the meaning of authorizing an assassination across the world.
Clearly – you weren’t 100% sure you should do it.
In fact, there is speculation that you knew where Bin Laden was for months before he was killed.
A former intelligence official who was serving in the US government when bin Laden was killed said that the Obama administration knew about the al-Qaeda leader’s whereabouts in October 2010 but delayed taking action and risked letting him escape.
If this is true, it is even more despicable than using the event for a campaign ad. Because it would mean that you, Mr. President, planned to kill Bin Laden at a time of your choosing…so you would have a wonderful one year anniversary celebration in the midst of your re-election campaign.
The ad itself is grotesque Mr. President – politicizing our warriors for your own gain, indeed taking credit for their courage and skills because you made an armchair decision from the safe cocoon of the Situation Room. Our warriors are not show dogs to be paraded around to serve your campaign purposes.
Enough is enough Mr. President.
