This is what 70 (yes, seventy) fully armed F-15E Eagles taxiing on a single runway look like, as seen at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina on April 16th.

For some reason I’m reminded of Apu’s comment on The Simpsons; “What better way to celebrate the independence of your country than to blow up a small portion of it.” It’s a beautiful sight.
Beautiful! And even better it celebrates a victory over ultimate evil. Targets, bombs and our warriors … doesn’t get much better.
Taxying???
Aiiieee.
The Air Force Association sent this pic last week to subscribers of its “Daily Bulletin.” I loved it then, I love it now.
OK, big kudos to the USAF for getting that many Mudhens FMC/PMC enough to fly an event like this. You can bet an unbelievable number of maintainers were up for very long days and nights to make this happen, but it is a sweet sight, nonetheless. I also give them a big “BZ” for an unbelievable bit of “Strikeforce Theatre,” as well. It tells all the budget-cutters “don’t be messing with the ability to do this,” and it sends a message to certain national capitols around the globe: “You really think you want to play with the Big Dogs? Really?”
Proud to see them all lined up, quite an effort.
However, the AF puts 70 planes on a 12,000 foot runway and it’s a big deal.
The Navy puts 90+ planes on a 1,000 foot carrier deck and it is…a normal day.
Guess it’s all in your perspective.
